Resources
To raise awareness and mobilize resources for the preservation of Indigenous languages, the United Nations has designated 2022–2032 the International Decade of Indigenous Languages. In support of this Decade, we have compiled a list of resources on Indigenous languages that may be of interest:
The International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022 – 2032
The International Decade aims to help promote and protect indigenous languages and improve the lives of those who speak them. It will contribute to achieving the objectives set out in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development.
The Endangered Languages Archive
A collection of audio and video recordings, transcriptions and translations, dictionaries, and primers in and of endangered languages created with and by speakers of the endangered languages.
Celebrating Indigenous Languages
A Google Earth Platform that uses technology to help preserve endangered languages.
Mozilla’s Common Voice
A database of donated voices that aims to facilitate the training of voice-enabled apps in different languages.
The Speech Accent Archive
A large set of speech samples from a variety of language backgrounds.
We will be adding more resources and readings over time, many related to the upcoming seminar series.
